"In this drawing, I aimed to capture the depth and movement of a forest, focusing on the strong, firm trunk of the tree and its stocky yet flowing branches. Using watercolor, Bristol paper, alcohol markers, pencil crayons, and paint markers, I wanted to reflect the tree's natural strength and beauty. This tree was highly valued by indigenous communities for its unique, durable properties. It was used to craft canoes, totem poles, and tools. Additionally, its bark could be harvested and processed into fiber, which was then used to make rope, baskets, and clothing. This tree is massive, typically growing between 1250 to 2500 feet tall, with a wide base and shallow roots. Some trees can live for over a thousand years, with the oldest verified tree being 1460 years old." - Indiara Faucher
